NAMI Education Programs
Every day, ONE in FIVE people try to cope and sustain hope in the face of a serious mental illness - that is about 37,000 people in southwestern Pennsylvania alone. When a person of any age is diagnosed with a serious emotional disorder of mental illness, the most effective response is to seek education. Education can empower individuals, their families and caregivers to move from a common initial reaction of confusion and despair to one of understanding, insight, hope and action.
Learning about the illnesses and the systems that serve and support individuals living with mental illness are the keys to recovery.
