NAMI Support Groups
“I am angry, sometimes overwhelmed and confused, but most of the time I just feel all alone. What’s next for me and my family? Will we ever be the same as before this happened? What does this diagnosis of mental illness mean?”
See below for NAMI Support Group meeting and contact information by county or download a NAMI Support Group flyer.
Should you have immediate concerns or specific mental health questions, please contact the NAMI Southwestern Pennsylvania office at (412) 366-3788 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
NAMI Family Support Group Facilitator Training
A NAMI Family Support Group Facilitator is a trained NAMI leader who leads a 90-minute, monthly Family Support Group. They play an important role in ensuring that all participants feel welcomed and supported. A NAMI facilitator also ensures that the group follows NAMI’s support group model by maintaining guidelines, sustaining clear participant boundaries and reinforcing communication skills that encourage group participation.
Potential candidates should be a family member or loved one of an individual who is living with a mental health diagnosis. Candidates should also have attended the NAMI Family Support Group meetings and agree to adhere to the NAMI Support Group model. Interested individuals should complete a Facilitator Training Application and return to NAMI Southwestern PA. For questions and information on upcoming trainings, contact Susan Caban at the NAMI Southwestern PA office at 412-366-3788 or email email@example.com.
NAMI Connections Peer Recovery Support Group Facilitator Training

The groups meet on a bi-weekly, weekly or monthly basis. Interested individuals please download a facilitator description and complete an application for Connections Facilitator Training. Next training will be held in Altoona, June 14 and 15, 2017. Space is very limited.
